Alex Carrasco

Hello! I am joining the Department of Economics at Universidad de Chile as an Assistant Professor. I received my Ph.D. in Economics from MIT in 2026.

I study the macroeconomics of aging and the design of macroeconomic stabilization policy, focusing on how life-cycle saving and health decisions, expectations and policy credibility, and financial intermediation and financial frictions shape macroeconomic dynamics and policy tradeoffs.

Research Fields: Macroeconomics, Monetary Economics, International Economics and Public Finance.
